Cavco Machine Tool Rebuilding uses different types of way liners in our machine tool and machinery slide ways, table repairs, and machine tool rebuilds. We use Moglice, Rulon, and Turcite brands most often in our machine tool slide way repairs and restorations.
| They are all excellent way liners, but one may be better then the others in particular applications. The decision of which way liner to use, Turcite, Moglice or Rulon, is not based solely on the machine tool make and model. The ability to keep the slide ways and slides of machine tools clean is an important factor. We also consider the type of material machined (steel, aluminum, cast iron, ceramics, carbide, etc.) in the machine tool, and the type of coolant used. Moglice is the material we use when we need slide thick nesses to be true to under one tenth foot. Moglice can be cast their and will give 100% bearing. Whether we use Rulon, Turcite or Moglice also depends on the thickness necessary to build up the slide or table working height and ball screw alignment, back to OEM specifications. Moglice can be applied thicker then Rulon or Turcite can, we have installed Moglice over .250" thick on Mazak horizontal machining centers with a lot of wear. The use of way liner material and the accurate craftsmanship needed to install it must be accompanied by sound engineering decisions to choose the best liner whether it be, Turcite, Moglice , Rulon or another brand like Garlock. The only liners we don't recommend is fiber board. The industry has come to far to be relying on fiber board. Using a rebuilder that has experience with proper installation of these different products and is capable of advising you on the best use of them, for your machine is extremely important. Generally speaking, Moglice can be almost twice as expensive to install then Turcite. |
